ABOUT THE SERIES
Équilibre is the French word for balance. Balance is so crucial to horsemanship, in so many ways; from the balance of the rider’s body, and emotions, to the horse's body and mind. It’s important to balance the training one does with the horse. For instance, if you train a maneuver to the left, you must be very intentional to train the same maneuver on the right. Being off balance in your mind or body even a little bit can affect the horse, because they are such intuitive, sensitive creatures. For example, yesterday I was riding, and I had enjoyed a really delicious coffee before I came to the barn. I had to be really intentional about breathing deeply and keeping a sense of calm during the ride, because I could feel my caffeine jitters affecting me and Tanner! I had to make sure that my energy didn't get in the way of a sense of ease and Tanner's peace.

I chose two color palettes to make up this series to create a dynamic sense of balance. The dark is inspired by quiet nights at the barn, surrounded by Pacific Northwest evergreen trees, stars sparkling overhead. The light is inspired by misty morning trail rides; dove gray, soft golds, tans, and white on white. I love the word Équilibre because it sounds like equine…
